Naperville Area Humane Society (NAHS) board of directors has elected local business owner Aschley Hopkins Yanda.
Yanda owns a local pet care company, Out-U-Go! Naperville, and has a long history working on behalf of animals in need and advocating for animal welfare. Through volunteer work with Naperville Area Humane Society, Don’t Bully My Breed, Safe Humane Chicago, Best Friends Animal Society and San Francisco Society for Prevention and Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), she has accumulated years of experience creating awareness for animals in need and for the organizations which serve them.
Yanda’s professional experience began with non-profit fundraising, then grew to include large scale event planning for restaurants and hotels in San Francisco and Chicago. In 2009, she opened the Naperville area pet care franchise Out-U-Go! Naperville where she oversees a team of pet sitters, providing in home pet care and dog walking for families throughout the Western suburbs.
“I am extremely excited about joining this board of talented and experienced individuals,” said Yanda, “I look to forward to supporting the mission of NAHS and to furthering community awareness about humane education and homelessness among pets in our community.”
Yanda and her family have four rescued pets, including two cats from NAHS. Her first rescued dog was Berkeley Moon, a pit bull mix who was AAT (Animal Assisted Therapy) certified and along with Yanda became the first ever team in the NAHS Paws for Tales program.
